When it comes to our veterans, I believe President George Washington said it best: “The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by our nation.”
My grandfather was a WWII veteran and I believe America has the most talented and remarkable military on the planet. There is simply never enough we can do as a country to show our support and appreciation to our veterans. They have risked the ultimate sacrifice so that we can enjoy the freedoms guaranteed by the constitution and without these brave men and women, America, the land of the free, would cease to exist. We owe them an un-payable debt of gratitude.
An area of specific concern for me is ensuring our veterans get the care that they deserve and are never left without the vital services that they have been promised. When elected, I will support all efforts to expand opportunities for our veterans to receive healthcare inside and outside of the VA system. If the VA isn’t working for our veterans, then we need to allow our vets to seek effective care elsewhere.
